Day in the Life of an IAAS Student: Campus & Classes
Pursuing a B.Sc. in Aviation is more than just taking exams—it’s a lifestyle. At the Institute of Aviation and Aviation Safety (IAAS), every day is an opportunity to learn, engage, and grow in the heart of India’s aviation capital: Mumbai.
Let’s walk you through a typical day in the life of an IAAS student.
⏰ 8:30 AM – Arrival at Campus (Goregaon West, Mumbai)
Tucked just off the Western Railway Line, IAAS is easily accessible by train, metro, and bus. Students arrive in crisp uniforms, ready for the day. The atmosphere? Professional, yet friendly.
💬 9:00 AM – Morning Briefing / Attendance
Each day begins with a quick morning assembly, where attendance is taken and the day’s schedule is outlined. Any DGCA circular updates or aviation safety announcements are shared here.
📚 9:30 AM – Classes Begin
The academic day is structured around 2–3 classroom sessions. Subjects include:
Air Navigation
Meteorology
Aircraft & Engines
Air Regulations
All taught by experienced aviation professionals—many of them current or former airline pilots. These sessions are highly interactive, using real-world scenarios, aviation case studies, and group discussions.
📝 12:30 PM – Short Break & Peer Study
Students break for tea, snacks, and revision discussions in the student lounge. It’s a great time to connect, clarify doubts, or chat with mentors.
🎯 1:00 PM – Simulator Training / Flying Theory (Optional)
Advanced students may opt for simulator hours or mentorship modules. Flying terminology, VOR navigation, and mock oral tests help sharpen DGCA readiness.
🧠 2:30 PM – Guest Lectures or Projects
Twice a week, guest speakers from the industry (examiners, ATC officers, airline managers) hold sessions. Students in their 3rd year also work on aviation research projects and case analysis.
🎒 4:00 PM – Wrap-Up & Assignments
Each class ends with a recap and homework/project briefing. Faculty are approachable, ensuring every student stays on track academically and emotionally.
🏙️ 4:30 PM Onward – Mumbai Life
Many students take advantage of Mumbai’s aviation ecosystem—visiting airports, airshows, or preparing for DGCA exams at home. The city itself becomes an extended classroom.
